8 Tips To Beat Finals Week

1. Make To-Do Lists– There is nothing like working for days on final assignments, only to realize you forgot about a paper that’s due at midnight. Make a to-do list with all your final assignments. Put them in order by when they are due, so you give yourself enough time for everything.

2. Take Care Of Yourself– Finals can be hard and you’re over your head in all the things you have to do in such little time. It can start to cut into your “You” time. Although you shouldn’t be sleeping for 12 hours, it’s important to get enough sleep, eat properly, and shower so you can still function in this critical time.

3. Find A Productive Place– It will take you so much more time to do your assignments and try to focus if your roommate is having a dance party. Sometimes it’s best to work alone and find a spot where you won’t be found. This way you can get stuff done without any distractions.

4. Go To Class– Even with four finals and three papers to do, it’s still important to go to some of your last classes. It may seem like a waste of time, because you could be doing something else. The professor may mention or go over something that could help you, so it is important to attend class.

5. Don’t Procrastinate– It’s always hard to start and stay with an assignment, when it’s so much easier to say you’ll just do it later. Even though that might be convenient at the time, you’ll be stressing later when you’re trying to do multiple assignments at once. It is important to give yourself enough time for everything, so you’re not scrambling on the last few days.

6. Stay Motivated– Every student will have a point where they will want to give up and be a stripper instead. The only way you’ll get through the last chunk of work, is to remember it’s almost over.

7. Reward Yourself– A good way to keep going is to reward yourself between assignments. When you finish one thing, give yourself a little break. You could take a nap, have a snack, or go out for a little while. This will give your brain the break it needs to keep going.

8. Start A Countdown– It’s the end of the semester and in a couple short weeks, you’ll be free. Start a countdown on your phone or calendar to keep reminding yourself,  you’re going home soon. You will have several weeks off to go home and do whatever you want.
