12 Ways Communication(s) Majors are Superior (4)

3. Experts of Persuasion
You have taken multiple courses in communication and perhaps even a persuasion course. You have probably noticed that you’ve been winning more arguments since joining the major. You know all of the secrets to communicating effectively and you have developed a skill set that helps you be heard when debating.

 2. You Criticize the Media
The most noticeable thing you’ve taken away from your media/broadcasting courses is that the media is evil. I’m totally kidding, because if you’re a comm major, you most likely love the media. The only difference is that, now, you know the ins and outs of what goes into producing the media messages distributed to the public. You understand the motives, the tricks, and the explanations behind the images in our televisions, magazines, etc. You probably get worked up whenever you watch tv because you critique every advertisement and every character in every show. You see the media for what it really is: a bunch of rich people trying to get richer by tricking people into watching their shows and buying their products.

 1. You Have Experience
You have had a lot of odd jobs and internships that explore the major. Maybe you’ve worked behind the scenes at a local television station, or maybe you’ve had a counseling internship helping children. You might not know exactly what you want to do, so why not try everything? If you can name it, a comm major has done it.
