A College Student launched a startup mobile app called Swappet that helps students save on used textbooks. The app is 110% a must download as it pretty much will save your life (but really). Swappet allows you to buy, sell, or swap items with other students. Cut out the middleman: sell textbooks for more, and buy textbooks for less. Swappet also helps college students save money on textbooks, furniture, computers, clothing, and more.
We got to talk to the genius creator himself of why he made this app. Here’s what he had to say:
With a following of nearly 500,000 students on my twitter account @ColiegeStudent, I know the biggest problem students face today, costly tuition and textbooks. I set out to help solve the problem of expensive textbooks by creating Swappet, an on campus student marketplace app where students can swap, sell, and buy used textbooks with each other. Swappet is designed to provide students the options to buy and sell items without having to use a less college friendly classified site. The categories range from textbooks, clothes, furniture, electronics, and other for anything else you might want to sell.
Here’s how it works: students sign up with their .edu email address, and then they choose their school. Once logged in, students can post textbooks or any other items for sale, as well as browse through items others at their school posted. If they see something they like, they can message that student and come to a deal on the price. It’s that easy. I got the idea for swappet because I noticed that on my twitter account @ColiegeStudent, the tweets that would get the most engagement are tweets that talk about how expensive textbooks are and how campus bookstores are a rip-off. I decided to make this free app to give students a way to save money and buy from trusted people at their school, because let’s face it, students today already have too many other things to worry about.
