The percentage is still significant, but in 2004 63% of college students reported having an alcoholic drink within the past 30 days, down from 67% in 2000.
Binge drinking, defined as having five or more drinks in a row within the past two weeks, has also been on the decline. In 1980, 44% of students reported binge drinking. In 2014, that number was down to 35%.
