What Different Students Think of the Racial Protests at Mizzou

Recently chaos struck the University of Missouri-Columbia when a graduate student by the name of Jonathan Butler decided to go on a hunger strike until his list of demands that he and fellow students created in order to try and relieve issues of racism and graduate student mistreatment on campus were met.

This list included things like the resignation of the University of Missouri President, Tim Wolfe, along with his public acknowledgement of his “white privilege”. The list also included the creation of curriculum to teach racial awareness and inclusion as well as increase the number of black faculty members by 10%. After a week of camping out in tents on campus, participating in class walkouts and verbal protests, and aiming to combat the ideas of the Board of Curators, these protestors have made quite a bit of noise on campus attracting the attention of local and national media outlets.up-next-page
