3. Watch a game/sport: soccer match, football game, swim meet. As an avid soccer fan, I set aside time each weekend to watch my favorite matches and relax, and try to spend the rest of the time catching up on work. It’s not for everyone, but it’s a great distraction and it’s fun and you need that sometimes.

2. Lay down for 10 minutes, find soothing music or even a meditation video on YouTube – focus on your breathing, close your eyes, and fill your head with good thoughts and get rid of the bad. Even a few minutes a day helps.

1. Journal: you don’t have to go all Dear Diary, but putting your thoughts out for you to see can be very helpful. Write by hand or make some sort of secret blog for you to see for yourself. Go back every few days and use it all as a learning experience.

The most important thing to understand is that although school is important, your mental well-being should also be a big part of your life. You really need to take care of yourself and that might mean only getting a B on a test instead of the A you could have gotten or working less hours at your job. As long as you could have learned something or helped yourself feel more mentally intact, then it was definitely worth it.
