How This Double Amputee Landed the Cover of Men’s Health

Noah Galloway landed the cover of Men’s Health after he entered their search for the “ultimate men’s health guy.” But Galloway is more than just an in shape guy who happened to land a cover, the 33 year old father is an Iraqi war veteran. And in fact, he is the first amputee to have the honor of being on the cover of Men’s Health.

It all started 10 years ago when Galloway found himself laying in a DC hospital missing an arm and a leg due to a roadside explosion. This sent Galloway into a deep depression and he found himself spending his days smoking, drinking, and sleeping. But today he takes pride in being super fit and inspiring others, especially those who have experienced amputations.

When Men’s Health received well over 1,000 contest entries it was Galloway’s video that truly set him apart from the rest.

“He said it was his choice whether to be bitter about what happened to him in Iraq, or to be better—and he chose to be better,” said editior in chief, Bill Phillips. “That’s a lesson we all can learn from. Every day, whether it’s your job or your relationship or somebody Tweets something nasty at you, it’s very easy to become a negative person. Noah reminds us that when we choose to be better, we can quite literally change our mindsets—and our lives.”

Noah Galloway sets a great example for all of us. He teaches us that it’s important to stay positive, keep pushing, and don’t let obstacles get in your way because life goes on. He is truly an inspiration.
