Our relationship soon became completely blurry. It seemed as if time was fleeting past us, and we just had to keep up with the times and spend as much time together as possible. It seems like just yesterday when we said our final goodbye’s, and the next day he was graduating. The concept seemed so foreign to me that I couldn’t believe what was happening. It seemed like while my life was standing motionless, his was zooming past me, cruising like a Tesla would against a Prius.
What’s the lesson here? Try to think back to the time you were most happy in your life. If you can imagine the same happiness with someone that advanced in their life in comparison to you, you might have just found yourself a soulmate of sorts. But, if the feeling of being considered “less than”, or the feeling of holding someone back in their future endeavors pops up in your head, I suggest that you hold off. I can’t tell you how much heartbreak comes with letting someone slip through your fingers, but I can tell you how much liberation there was when it happened.
