The Realities of College People Don’t Tell You About

5. Don’t just do activities because “they look good”- A big part of college is enjoying yourself and you will definitely not do that if you spend all of your extra time with clubs/sports that you are only doing for future employers. This is your chance to try things you never thought you could do in high school

4. You will eat alone- Don’t be embarrassed because everyone will at different points, but if you feel you’re alone more than you’d like then reach out to someone, it’s that simple, really.

3. Breakdowns will happen and that’s okay- You will have an exam and paper due the next morning and you just cannot bring yourself to finish either, but have a good cry, and remember it will not be the end of the world if you don’t get an A or B

2. Never underestimate a phone call with someone from back home- Whether it’s your parents, a best friend, or a cousin, they will remind you how much you are loved and how much you are worth to them.

1. Do not let the bad overpower the good- No matter how many breakdowns you have, or how much work you have to do daily, do not forget that you are studying something you love and get the chance to do as many activities as you want. Know that everyone struggles in some way or another and look forward to time with friends, a good class, extra sleep, anything that makes you smile.
