The Struggles Of Picking A Major

On the first day of kindergarten, we do little all about me projects, which end up being mini profiles about who we think we are. Typically one of the blank spaces was “I want to be a (fill in the blank) when I grow up.” And you would fill it in with a word written in your favorite color crayon.

Fast-forward a couple years and they ask you the same question, except they actually want you to pick what you want to do the rest of your life. This is college. And it’s your sophomore year. You traded coloring or gluing for stressing out at one in the morning and writing twelve-page research papers. They are still asking what you want to be when you grow up, but its in the form of “what are you going to major in?”up-next-page
