Ten Reasons Why We Love Super Bowl Sunday (2)

5. The Commercials Are Hilariously Wonderful

I’m going to be completely honest right now. Usually when I watch TV, I mute the commercials because I can’t stand the white noise. One of my good friends, Reed, quite enjoys commercials. Today, I join Reed in taking in companies’ attempts to lure me into purchasing their goods because today the commercials are the most hysterical and entertaining they’ll be all year. So today, just take in American capitalism with open arms.

4. Today Is An Acceptable Day To Find An NFL Team To Support

While I already have a favorite NFL team, many people at your typical Super Bowl party are not super interested sports, which leaves them without any rooting interest most of the year. But today, the magic of the pursuit of a championship overtakes even the most staunch non-sports fans, and it romances them into picking a side and passionately sticking with that side for all 60 minutes of the game. The best part is those brand new fans are accepted by the die-hard loyalist fans for those 60 minutes as well.

3. Everyone Is Actually Talking About Sports

I love sports. My goal is to one day have a job in the wide world of sports. For many people, sports are unfortunately just entertainment. For me and many others, it’s a way of life. Today, people indulge people like me and ask questions about said sports, while actually seemingly genuinely interested in hearing what passionate sports fans like me have to say.

2. A Champion Is Crowned

Nothing says America like winning. Just ask Donald Trump or Charlie Sheen. There’s something inside of us that craves success and being No.1. Today, a new group of American athletes and their fans get to feel the breath-taking emotion of being the top-dog. Then, America embraces and loves the new Super Bowl Champion for another 365 days. Think about it: The first commercial after the Super Bowl ends in a shameless promotion of fill-in-the-blank NFL team’s Super Bowl championship gear from official team championship hats, shirts, rally towels, commemorative footballs, and DVDs. To the victor goes the spoils.

1. Heroes Are Born

Men like Brett Favre, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Russell Wilson, Eli Manning, Bill Belichick, Pete Carroll, Tom Coughlin, Aaron Rodgers, and David Tyree rose from their status as great NFL players and coaches, to heroes. Not many teams, fans, or players experience the mountain-top that is winning the Super Bowl. Those who do are remembered forever and ever. Who knows whom today’s heroes will be? All I know is today’s heroes will become all-time legends. What’s better than that?
