Ten Things To Do Instead of Stressing Over Finals

As the end of the semester draws nearer and nearer, the first word that pops into a students head is inherently universal: PANIC.  All nighters are pulled, as well as hair.  Some people yell, while others cry, and some even do both simultaneously.  The atmosphere of a college campus is, in short, anything but healthy.

In light of this, it is important to take a step back and take a deep breath.  Don’t panic.  Cry if you must, but do not panic.  Everything is going to be okay.  After all, what is the point in stressing out over something?  If you know it, you know it, and there is no point in losing sleep about it.  In fact, there are numerous things you can do with your time that is taken up pointlessly stressing out over finals.

10. Take a Yoga Class

Find your mantra.  Breathe deeply.  Learn poses with funny names.  Rather than stressing about making an A in that class, focus on your balance and your thought process of realizing that you are not nearly as flexible as you once imagined you were.

9. Go To An Aquarium

The movement of fish is actually known to be very soothing to the brain, and if you toss and turn at night over your tests coming up, soothing is exactly what you need.  Name as many fish as you can, and pick your favorite.  Take plenty of pictures.

8. Go To A Karaoke Bar

Nothing gets all the tension out of your brain like belting “Proud To Be An American” at the top of your lungs.  Trust me, I’m (definitely not) a doctor.

7. Take a Fun Class at Your Local Gym

From Zumba to Pole Dancing, there is a class at the gym available to everyone.  Pick the topic that strikes your fancy, and sweat out the stress!

6. Read A Non-Required Book

When was the last time you read a book for funsies?  Put down that text book, go grab your favorite Harry Potter novel, or one of those new ones on the Amazon Top 100 list, and get comfortable.  Stretch your brain without frying it – it’s good for you.
