West Coast Colleges VS East Coast Colleges (2)

Fashion There is no doubt that the West Coast has a bit more of a laid-back feel to it than the East Coast and as a result this mindset is translated into fashion. But part of the reason the fashion is different is because of the difference in weather. It typically doesn’t get as cold on the West Coast as it does on the East Coast (minus Florida), so during those winter months you may find people walking around in jeans a sweatshirt. On the East Coast, however, you’re more likely to find people bundled up in layers and wearing gloves, boots, and beanies or earmuffs (again, Florida is the exception). With that being said, you are still going to find people wearing jeans and a t-shirt no matter which college campus you’re on.

Slang and/or accents No matter where you are in the world you will always find that each location has it’s own slang. You’ll also find that some areas have an accent while others don’t. While Californians are “hella” tired New Yorkers are “deadass” tired. In Washington and Oregon it’s a “car” but in Boston it’s a “cah”. Adjusting to the slang is one of the biggest troubles of going from one coast to the other. You’ll often find that people are saying things you’ve never heard of so they have to explain it to you. Then throw in a regional accent that you can barely understand and it’s like you’re listening to someone speak Pig Latin.
