What Different Students Think of the Racial Protests at Mizzou (3)

“These protests were done to make Mizzou more all-encompassing and I agree with them, but all it’s doing is dividing our student body.”

“I don’t want to wear my school letters because I’m ashamed that today the right movement punished an innocent man.”

“We need human rights, not black rights. We don’t need a certain percentage of black workers, we need the best workers for the job.”

“I support the protest in theory, but I worry about how it’ll reflect upon me as a soon-to-be graduate of this school when I apply for jobs.”

Throughout the last week media has portrayed this protest as a means of unity on campus when in reality it has been quite the opposite. Whether students support the protest or not, one thing we all agree on is that our educations are being compromised by the multiple walkouts and disruptions on campus. Although fighting for a cause is a nobel thing to be praised, it is questionable when the vast majority of the student body disagrees with what is being done. Throughout the next few weeks, measures will be taken to appease the protesters in hopes that the whole situation will die down and allow classes to resume as usual as it is time to end the fight and yet again become #OneMizzou.
