A College Girl’s Guide to the Gridiron (2)

Timing is everything
A football game is split into 4, 15 minute quarters. The time is not continuous, and the clock may stop for various reasons throughout the game. Sorry ladies, but the game isn’t over after the first 10 minutes! A typical game can run anywhere from 2 1/2 to 4 hours, so get comfy and grab some snacks. Maybe even a drink.. or two 😉 Don’t forget about halftime, too! Not too confusing, right?

The Game
It’s actually pretty simple. The teams participate in a coin toss, where the winner chooses whether they’ll start on offense or defense, and which end of the field they want to run towards. Basically, the job of the Offense is to get the ball to the Endzone, or the end of the field. The quarterback will throw the ball to a receiver, hand it off, or run it down the field. The job of the defense is to stop whoever has the ball before they can get closer to scoring, and sometimes steal it back. See! It’s not so bad!
