Sure, moms deserve a lot of credit once you’re a successful adult: after all, they raised you. But who would you have turned out to be if you didn’t have an older sister? Have you ever thanked her for dance parties, listening to you cry, or for letting you borrow her favorite pair of boots?
10. For being your second closet.
Face it- your clothing selection would have been pretty slim if it weren’t for your older sister’s closet. (And apologize for those things that you stained, lost, or took without asking. )
9. For always being on your side.
Before you even told the story, your older sister had already taken your side. Even when you guys were ready to kill each other, she would have gotten to battle for you any day.
8. For not telling mom.
Whatever you’ve done, she’d probably done worse. Even if she made fun of you for it, she probably knew the severity of the sister code. Secrets are always safe.
7. For not telling your secrets.
And when you told her things that you didn’t want her friends, your family, or the entire school to know, she always kept her lips sealed.
6. For emptying the dishwasher.
Mom asked you to do it, and when you forgot, she did it for you. That doesn’t mean it didn’t come with a price- you probably had to do her a favor or two in return. Regardless, you’ve both learned that sisterhood is a give and take.
