10 Ways The University of Colorado Wins, Even When We Lose (2)

8. Pearl Street

Boulder’s iconic downtown walking mall, Pearl Street is full of prime shopping, gourmet eateries, and the most interesting people you’ve ever seen. Students are #blessed with the opportunity to escape the life of midterms and projects and embrace the life of a thriving 20-something year old, spending their grocery money on $12 juices and new Free People Rompers. During parent’s weekend, fraternity/sorority mom’s/dad’s weekends, Pearl is full of students and parents indulging at Salt, The Kitchen, or Oak. Find yourself on Pearl during the day when the weather permits and you’ll be surrounded by the most genuine form of talent: street performers. In an hour downtown, you may be lucky enough to see a man put himself in a box, a fourteen year-old juggle knives on a unicycle, and a one-man-band. Needless to say, Pearl Street is utterly magical, and sets Boulder apart from so many universities.

7. The Sororities

The Greek System at the University of Colorado is unique from the stereotypical perception of Greek Life provided by many southern universities. Aside from the fact that every house is both amazing and beautiful, there is a true sense of community that come from being a part of the Panhellenic community. Unlike the intra-house rivalries portrayed in movies and TV shows, the different houses at the University of Colorado commonly interact and embrace each other as friends.next
