3) Follow your Heart
While away at school you will have a lot of choices to make. It is up to you to make sure you are doing what is best for you. It that means changing your major for the twelfth time so be it. College is meant to set you up for the future. What is really important is you enjoy what you do in life. Don’t major in something because it’s easy, major in something because you enjoy it.
2) Don’t be Someone your Not
I can’t tell you how many people try to change themselves when thy go to college or any school for that matter. Don’t do it. People should love you for you, and if they don’t like it they can go to Oz for all I care. Don’t jeopardize your beliefs or morals just because you want to fit in. Part of what is wonderful about college is that you have the right to just be you. Whether that is not showering regularly, or putting ketchup on your macaroni, you have the right too.
Although College life is stressful you soon become aware of your surroundings. Yes there will always be another test, another assignment, another student loan… what is truly amazing though is going home after the end of a semester to be with family and friends. After all home is where the heart is, and finding it may be difficult sometimes, but that’s what college is all about. Finding home, and making a home for yourself, “…if I ever go looking for my hearts desires again, don’t look any further than my own backyard, because if it isn’t there. I never really lost it to begin with.”
