11 Things You Know from Being in a Group Friendship

If you’re one of the lucky ones that kept a large group of friends through high school, you know that things are different from having just one best friend. The more the merrier, right?

11. The group message blows up at the most inconvenient times.

You love your friends, until you leave your phone for 15 minutes and come back to 87 messages. You thought you were safe to leave your phone off during class: you were wrong.

10. You have to fight to get a word in.

When you’re all together, you have to raise your hand for a few minutes before anyone gets the hint that you have something important to say. With that many people, the volume gets explosive pretty quickly, and if anything it’s helped you learn some more patience.

9. There’s always someone available to hang out with.

With a small friend group, you might be stuck without plans sometimes. That doesn’t happen in big group friendships. Someone else is just as desperate for plans for the night, so you never have to be alone.

8. And someone’s always there to talk to.

You never have to worry about only having one person to complain too. There are always people willing to listen and help you through whatever you’re going through.

7. You’ve mastered the art of double-buckling.

Okay, I don’t advise it, but when you’re trying to carpool and you have to stuff 6 people into a four-person car, you have to make it work somehow.
