Everyone knows that the most important thing about going to college isn’t necessarily your studies. Equally important is the college social life, and more specifically, dating. However, dating during college isn’t at all like dating during high school, just like how dating after college won’t be exactly the same as dating now.
With that said, here are just a few college dating and relationship tips. At this point in your life, they’ll help you charm, woo, and successfully attract whoever you’ve got your eye on while maintaining your own happiness (and hopefully your grade point average.)
16. Don’t feel the pressure to start a serious relationship.
It seems like almost everyone in college is in a happy relationship, and it can be tempting to get down on yourself if you have a hard time finding something similar. Don’t. If you’re in a relationship, that’s great. If you’re not in a relationship, that’s great too. College is about casual dating too, not just true love.
15. Open your mind.
When you’ve got your eyes open, looking for a potential sweetie, remember that you’re all adults now, so picking a boyfriend or girlfriend doesn’t mean automatically choosing the cute boy with the letter jacket. Personality is more important than looks, and that means you’ve got to get to know someone before you know you want to date them.
14. Find someone who makes you laugh.
This is just a good rule for dating no matter what stage of life you’re in.
13. If at all possible, steer clear of long distance relationships.
They’re worth the effort if you’re already with someone you love, but dating life in college is about here and now, so don’t miss out on that.
