20 Things I Have Learned From My Lovely Southern Roommate (4)

5.) Being tone deaf makes a person even more lovable.

Again, this has nothing to do with the South, but it is something I learned from my Southern, tone-deaf roommate.

4.) Never underestimate a tiny Southern girl.

Sassy, spunky and ever-so classy, I have learned that Southern girls are scrappy as hell, even if they are 5 foot 2 inches.

3.) Tiny Southern girls have the highest alcohol tolerances.

You know the South taught you well when you complain that you drink a lot and never get drunk.

2.) The way to any Southern child’s heart is some good Southern fried chicken.

As a kid, Colby’s nanny would always take her to a fried chicken fast-food restaurant that her Mom disallowed her to eat at. She says she loved her nanny, and I’m assuming part of that love comes from her nanny allowing her to indulge in delicious fried chicken.

1.) Not all Southern girls have the negative Southern Belle stereotypes.

She’s not stuck-up nor is she constantly concerned about her hair going flat. Though we were raised in two totally different lifestyles, my Southern roommate has taught me that the South gives us the best whiskey, music and people.
