When you grow up with an older sibling, its thought to come with many responsibilities, such as living up to their standards, being pushed around by them, and always being the younger, annoying sibling, but what people tend to overlook is the many advantages it comes along with.
You never get blamed for anything
Mom and Dad always give you the benefit of the doubt, pulling the classic “You should have known better, she’s just a baby” line to your older siblings. It’s undeniably their fault leaving you alone with a box of crayons, fully well knowing you’d draw all over your furniture, therefore making it their fault.
You have limited rules
Your older sibling gets your parents worked in for you, leaving a limited set of rules for you when it comes time. They already broke all the curfews, got in trouble at school, and brought home boyfriends. Your parents are much cooler with you because your older sibling turned out fine, so they’re much quicker to let you loose a little more than they did with them.
You get to do all the things she does
If your older sibling is going to a party, that maybe your parents are on the fence about you attending all you have to say is the magic words “Sam will be there, she can watch out for me,” and you’re golden. Now your older sibling may not like this one so much, it’s great for you. You get to feel like the cooler younger sibling when all of their friends suddenly know who you are in the halls at school. Although it’s only because your parents forced your sister to let you go to the movies with them last week.
