Female Iowa State Student Killed in Hit-and-Run

AMES, Iowa — The Ames Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run accident that killed an Iowa State student near campus Monday morning.

An Iowa State University police officer discovered the body of a female in the intersection of Lincoln Way and Ash Avenue around 7:00 a.m. The woman was alive and suffering from injuries consistent with being hit by a car. She was transported to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.

Police are not releasing her name but say she was an 18-year-old ISU student from Cedar Rapids.

Ames police are asking anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed something between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. to contact them.
