Girl Scout Cookies Going Digital. OMG THIS IS AWESOME.

Wouldn’t you love to buy Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, or any of your other favorite Girl Scout cookies without ever leaving your home? Well, do I have the great news for you! The cookies will now be sold online.

The Girl Scouts of the USA is now allowing troops to create their own website or mobile app to sell the delicious treats. They still plan to keep their old methods of sale too. However, not all troops will be selling online. Since 100 percent of the net revenue raised through cookie sales remains with the local Girl Scout council, they and the troop leaders have the power to decide if they want to participate in online selling.

Feel bad about not buying cookies from a family member because she’s out of state? Fear no more, each scout will have her own site where anyone will be able to place orders. However, to order from a specific scout you must receive an emailed invitation from them first. Once you receive your email and place your order the cookies will be shipped directly to your home.

Why add the option to shop online if the cookies make the Girl Scouts of the USA about 800 million dollars a year? Officials say it’s to get the girls interested in email, marketing, finance and online communication at a younger age.

While some states have already begun the online process others will start as early as December 12th. What to know when you can buy cookies online in your area? Go to the digital cookie website and simply select your area from the drop down menu. What does this mean for you? You now have access to girl scout cookies at your fingertips whenever you want! It’s okay, freak out!
