Hashtag No Filter: 5 Reasons Being Blunt Isn’t Easy

If you’re used to people questioning if you were born with a filter, you know what it is like being blunt. Life with no boundaries usually includes trying to take back insults and an endless amount of “I’m sorry”. Being blunt is not always easy and most of the time you will strive to put a leash on your own mouth. Good luck because these are the struggles you have to overcome!

 

5. You never notice that you’ve said something offensive.

The first thought that came to your head, also fell out of your mouth. Just because we think something, doesn’t mean it is always appropriate for everyone else.

4. You often shock people.

Everyone around you probably has a vast knowledge of social etiquette, the exact thing you’re missing. So if you’re used to people looking at you with raised eyebrows and wide eyes, it may be a sign you’re too blunt.

3. People turn to you for real advice.

It easy to ask anybody for their opinion, but you should expect guarded answers in fear of hurting your feelings. Most people are going to turn towards the blunt for the cold hard truth, so put on your therapist pants!

2. People will question your compliments.

Everyone is so used to you telling them if their butt looks too big, that they will questions when you tell them they look nice. Compliments can still be sincere coming from someone blunt and should be trusted the most!

1. You don’t know what is appropriate.

When you actually try to be socially acceptable, you don’t really know how. You’ll probably end up questioning every thought and not talking at all.
