Rival Chapters.
THE TEIR SYSTEM IS ALIVE AND WELL. Well, at least in every sorority gal’s head. Now, sisterhood is all about chapter pride and national sorority standings, which means there can only be one “best” house on campus. We all know that chapters greatly differ among schools nationally, but here, at your campus, your house is the best. In life, you will face obstacles…those who are threatening to you, your competition. Sorority life embodies the “polite politics of love and war”. Yes, we should all be united as a Greek Community, but c’mon- is America all together and okie dokie on the same page? NO. You know what I think- go ahead, compete, strive to be the best. Embrace those other sorority women on campus as real life- you will have to compete with others to win at life. Anyone ever heard of Darwin?? Survival of the fittest.
Relationships < Greek Life:
Good luck being in a relationship while in a sorority. I’m not speaking in regards to relationships between one Greek member and a non-Greek member. Yes, that is how my relationship was…we made it out together, but hell no it was not easy. (Especially when I was Recruitment Chair and may or may not have had 4 mental breakdowns within 7 days). Relationships are tricky, they requite commitment, dedication, and above all a deep caring and loving disposition toward the other person. Greek life comes with a lot of baggage- social endeavors, scholastic ambitions, philanthropic endeavors, sisterhood events, chapter meetings, standards review (yes, we all have been there- don’t deny the true), and much more. These obligations are bound to take up a substantial portion of your time and commitment (don’t forget to add in your actual collegiate work), time that comes from your relationships. Just, be careful.
