8. They expect the world to be a kind place
And it is a painful reality check when they realize that it is not. Eventually, we learn that not everybody in the world is going to be kind like us or say the things that we want them to say. Some people are going to be harsh when we are going through a hard time, and others will not sugar coat everything. One day, we know we will understand this, but until then, it is an arduous concept to lash onto.
7. Some people think that we handle our emotions too dramatically
Everybody cries at some point in their life. Some people cry more than others. Simply, being sad at times is a part of life, and there is nothing wrong with engaging in a good cry. When I got to college, my roommates thought I was too much. It was only the second night, and I was crying and Facetiming with My Parents that I was homesick because college was a big transition for me. I will never forget one roommate saying to me, “I can sympathize with you, but you are acting ridiculous and way too emotional.” People need to understand that everybody reacts to changes (or anything in general) differently. We ask for people to be empathetic when we are handling our emotions in “too extremes” of ways.
6. A lot of the time, we act on our emotions
We feel before we think. Sure, it isn’t the best process, but at least we learn from our mistakes.
