Study Shows When College Students Are Most Likely To Try Drugs For The First Time

New studies have been released showing which months college students tended to be trying specific drugs for the first time, brought to us by ABC Eyewitness News. As a parent sending your children off to college, you obviously fear that they’ll get peer pressured or follow the crowd into bad habits like smoking, drinking, and doing drugs. Since you don’t have much control over your children when they go away to college, this study provides insight on when the best times to talk about drug use with your children are.

Stimulants, like Adderall and Ritalin, are hugely popular on college campuses. Adderall and Ritalin are drugs that are prescribed to ADD and ADHD patients to help them focus more on their school work, homework, and during everyday situations where attention is needed. Studies have shown that college students who are not diagnosed with ADD or ADHD are most likely to start trying these drugs illegally during the November, December, and April months. Students are able to focus better on studying and assignments that are needed to pass finals which is most likely the reason for trying stimulants during these months.next
