UMass-Amherst Cuts Ties with Bill Cosby

The University of Massachusetts at Amherst has decided to cut ties with famed comedian and alumnus Bill Cosby after a slew of rape allegations have come to light.

Cosby had received a masters and doctorate from the University in education. His thesis focused on how his show Fat Albert affected the learning of young children. Currently, he was the honorary co-chair of a $300 million UMass fundraising campaign. The University asked him to step down from such and he obliged. Over the years, he has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the University.

Though all allegation are unsubstantiated and Cosby continues to deny such, the University didn’t want to send a negative message about their stance on sexual abuse and rape, being that many colleges are trying to reform the college is heavily focused on sexual abuse prevention.
