Why It’s Okay Not To Know What You’re Doing With Your Life

College is about finding yourself. At 18, you’re not likely to know what you want to do with your life. At 21, you probably still haven’t figured that out. Newsflash: It’s okay. You’re supposed to be a little reckless, have some eye-opening experiences, and discover your likes and dislikes. That’s what college is for. We’ve all been privy to the spiel about how important our futures are. While that is true, don’t let your planning for the nebulous future keep you away from enjoying your time in school. Here are 8 reasons why it’s okay for you not to have the slightest clue about where you’re going:

8. Life is not linear- We live as we go. Our entire existence is tied to cause and effect. You don’t always need a plan, but you do need some resilience. How we respond to hard times has an impact on how successful we’ll be.

7. Changing your mind is inevitable- With internships, volunteer work, and clubs, you have opportunities coming at your from all angles. You learn what you like and what you don’t like. Your heart can be set on a career path and one day spent volunteering with kids can change your pathway.
