15 Thoughts During My First Month of College (4)

6. “They’re Going to Judge Me or Think I’m Weird.” Speaking of judgement, nobody judges you. People don’t care who you were in high school or who you are now. You are literally the tiniest fish in the most gigantic ocean ever. No one gives two craps if you wear a snuggle to class, ride a scooter to class, or watch Netflix in the front row of lecture. In fact, you may get complimented for it.

5. “I. Love. Starbucks.” You could find me at the Starbucks on campus every single day. First, there was not a Starbucks in my small town back home. Second, coffee. Coffee is life; it is everything in college. The amount of money I’ve spent on over priced cups of joe and baked goods is ungodly. But, let’ be honest…worth it!

4. “What’s ‘Studying’?” This foreign word had been mentioned in my presence a few times….I knew not what it meant. The idea, the concept, it just…it never registered as relevant. But, guess what? It is! Surprise, surprise. Studying is actually needed in college. The classes are styled differently than high school, the teachers barely teach and you MUST do all sorts of learning and work on your own. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. I know, because I thought it was…and it’s not.
