7 Tips To Help You Succeed In Your Next Job Interview

Job interviews can be nerve racking and scary for some, so here are seven tips to help you land that job in your next interview!

1. Research

Before your interview, research the company and job you are interested in. During the job interview, they will usually ask you what you know about the company to see if you are truly interested in the job. So make a few flashcards testing you on the facts about the company, so you are prepared for when they ask you about their company.

2. First Impression

First impressions have a HUGE impact. When you go into that interview, think about what kind of impression you want to leave with that company. Dress business appropriate, be punctual, and appear like you didn’t just roll out of bed. How you present yourself is a big factor in your interview so make sure you appear and act professional throughout the interview.

3. Be Prepared For The Interview Questions

Usually online you can find interview questions for a specific company, or you can find practice interview questions that will help you be prepare to answer the questions that you will face in your interview.

4. Sell Yourself

Another important part of a job interview is to sell yourself. Explain to them why they should hire you and what you will bring to their company.

5. Appropriate Body Language

Make sure to have appropriate body language throughout the interview, such as good posture. Again, this will show that you are professional and add to your overall impression that you give to the employer.

6. Look Over Your Resume

Have a friend or fellow coworker look over your resume and make sure everything makes sense and that there are no grammar errors. Often times an employer won’t hire you if they notice errors in your paper, because they believe you won’t take the job seriously if you can’t even be serious enough to look over your resume.

7. Follow Up

It is always important a few days after an interview to email the company and follow up and emphasize how serious you are about landing the job. Don’t wait too long after the interview however, because they will loose track of who you are, or think that you weren’t serious enough about the job to even follow up.
