In 2009, Jasmin Johnson rushed Delta Sigma Theta, and was allegedly the victim of vicious hazing. She was punched in the face, while vinegar was squirted in her eyes, and ice cold water was dumped over her head. At a separate time, Johnson had eggs thrown at her as she was punched repeatedly to the point of vaginal bleeding. This sounds less like Greek life, and more like Fight Club.
5. Columbia University
In order to prove one’s wealth, the pledge is allegedly required to buy a Tiffany necklace, and throw it into the Hudson River. Who doesn’t love literally throwing your money away?
4. Union College
In 2013, Tess Koman discussed her hazing experience in Sigma Delta Tau. In her story, over 40 pledges were all locked in a basement with only one toilet to use. They were often asked questions during line ups, like “Which one of the sisters is the prettiest?” and “Which sister do you think is a lesbian, and why do you think that?”, and if their answer was not satisfactory, it was met with yelling and derogatory comments.
