Why The College You Attend Does Not Reflect Your Future

Most people think that in order to get an amazing job, you have to go to an amazing college. But, that’s not necessarily the case.

When looking for a job, an employer will not ask you how well you did in a particular class, or how you ranked in your graduating class. They want to know what skills you possess, what prior internship/job experiences you may have and how could you be an employee of value to the company/job. They won’t hire or not hire you automatically based on what college you have on your resume.

If you have the same grades as someone but they have so many internships and experiences in the field you are applying for, chances are the employer will hire them over you. It doesn’t matter if you went to community college or an Ivy League, if you don’t have proof besides a GPA to show you are proficient in your field, you won’t be as successful as you hope to be.

So, don’t worry about the fact that you’re at a public university and don’t think you’ll have job security just because you went to one of the best schools in the world. Keep working hard, gain experiences, network, and build up a resume and the future will be bright.
