Why All College Students Need to Make Out More

First of all, who doesn’t want an excuse to make out more? Well there’s more to kissing than meets the eye and there are actually a number of physical and mental benefits  that result from swapping spit. After you read through this article, lather on your fave cherry chap stick, grab your sweet heart (or a really stranger, NOT ADVISED,) and pucker up!

1. Kissing Decreases Pain: during an intense, passionate, heart-pounding lip lock, the body releases doses of adrenaline that actually lend to the dulling and numbing of pain. Even more, there are also pain-reducing endorphins that are produced and released in the body during physical intimacy, basically making kissing an immortalizing superpower against hurt. Next time your boo feels a migraine coming on, grab him/her and show ‘em all your lips’ healing powers.

2. Increases Happiness: Dulls pain and increases happiness?! That’s a double jackpot. The same endorphins that help to reduce physical pain also work on mental pain too! Give yourself a little pick me up with a little lip locking. Hey… we all just wanna make each other happy, right? Is that a good enough excuse?

3. Kissing Fights Freakin’ Cavities: Wait… is there anything that kissing doesn’t seem to do? Kissing, more or less, generates saliva production and exchange. While that may not sound very healthy per say, saliva production is the leading mechanism in ridding the teeth of plaque. Screw the dentist (just kidding,) but a make out sesh is sooo much sweeter than a snickers bar; and it won’t go right to your thighs, either. Three cheers for clean teeth!

4. Smooching Basically Makes You Beautiful: A spit-swapping marathon is a great work out for you facial muscles, jaw line, and neck. By partaking in a vigorous smooch, you can tighten the skin and muscles around your mouth and cheeks. Um… hello high cheek bones. Hello free face lift (kind of.)

5. It Gives You Confidence: A study conducted in Germany found that men that received a kiss from their girlfriend/wife before heading off to work made more money throughout the day. Kissing releases stress and puts the mind and body at ease. Men who went off to work contempt from kissing were more productive and clear-headed throughout the day. Just, please, do both of yourselves a favor brush your teeth first!

6. Strengthens Relationships: When kissing, both men and women produce the hormone oxytocin. As a neuromodulator for the brain, this hormone plays an important role in intimacy and bonding. Whether you’re kissing a baby or bae, smooching is a powerful player in the strengthening of relationships between the people involved.

7. Kissing Burns Calories: I mean, it may not replace you’re daily gym sesh, but making out can burn up to 20 calories. Does this give us an excuse to skip the stair master……..?

The bottom line here: we should all strive for more lip action in our lives. Plus, the more intense, the better the face life, more calories burned, and the happier you’ll be, right? I can’t seem to find any down sides to making out more often. Go out there and get more face time! If there’s been someone you’ve been persuing, make sure you tell them all about the benefits and that you’re just looking to help them stay healthy; that should seal the deal (with a kiss!)
