Jennifer Lawrence Speaks Out About Nude Picture Leak

Around a month ago there was a huge leak of celebrity nudes. If you didn’t hear about it then you may live under a rock; it was all over the media. Some were real and some weren’t. But for Jennifer Lawrence they were all too real. She had many nudes in this leak, and finally she is speaking out.

As a huge fan already, my opinion of the magnificent J-Law didn’t really change. I mean hey, we all send dirty pics. But her response to the leak has made me love her even more. “Anybody who looked at those pictures, you’re perpetuating a sexual offense,” she told Vanity Fair, “I didn’t tell you that you could look at my naked body.” She struggled with what to do after the leak. Lawrence was very upset after, but now has found her own peace. She stated, “I started to write an apology, but I don’t have anything to say I’m sorry for. I was in a loving, healthy, great relationship for four years. It was long distance, and either your boyfriend is going to look at porn or he’s going to look at you.”

It is incredible to think that people have their private lives exposed like this daily, and I’m not just talking celebrities. Girls all to often think their pictures are safe with a boy when they aren’t. Boys fail to see the harm in posting private pictures. It is an awful cycle, but does that mean sending nudes is wrong?

Well no. There is nothing wrong with sending pictures and even Jennifer says this. It is a good way to keep a relationship passionate. And lets be honest, sometimes it is just plain fun. But being careful is key. Building trust and protecting your private information is necessary. This, of course, is harder for celebrities because getting access to their private information is worth the big bucks to hackers. It is disgusting that people are making money off of something that should never be shared to the public, but this is reality.

We won’t all necessarily be so affected by taking a naked pic, but it is good food for thought next time before you hit send.
