Struggles Only Big City College Students Would Understand (2)

13. Rain: Snow’s Less Interesting Cousin

Rain as a city student is a lot like snow, except you’ll get wetter and class will never get cancelled. Hooray.

12. Dealing With Drivers As You Walk Across Campus

They love to honk and curse if you’re on the road a second into their green light, but somehow never actually see when the walk signal is on, leading to plenty of fun near-death experiences. Believe it or not, buddy, we all have places we need to be!

11. No Cars of Your Own

On the delightful subject of cars, you also have to deal with the fact that you don’t have your own. Most urban colleges have a hard and fast “no cars if living on campus” rule, meaning all those midnight drives around the city or weekend camping trips to the mountains your friends post about on Facebook make you tear up a little.

10. People Are Less Friendly

In a big city, weird things go down sometimes and everyone has stuff they need to do. As such, people are much less likely to smile at you on the sidewalks or offer an apology if they bump into you. City-dwellers don’t trust (or sometimes even tolerate) strangers – you have to just curse internally if someone smacks you with their Prada bag and move on with your life.
