Most importantly, I learned how to compromise – about the thermostat, who gets the TV remote, what kind of music to play, whether or not to wear headphones, the mess, etc. I also accepted that I can be a huge jerk sometimes, but hey, the first step is acknowledging the problem right? Such as…forgetting to take the hair out of the drain after a shower. 9 times out of 10. Still so sorry!

I’ve learned that it is so easy to blame someone else when things go wrong instead of realizing that you’re part of the problem too. However, I’ve also learned that there’s no way in hell one person is always right, which is what compromise is about.

I wouldn’t change my housing situation for my first 2 years at college for anything. It was tough and sometimes even frustrating, but it helped me grow a lot as a person in patience, self-control, and even helped solidify some friendships. I learned to stand up for myself and improved my confrontation skills.next
