Why Your Freshman Year Roommate Will Teach You Valuable Lessons (4)

Most importantly, don’t be passive aggressive. If you feel a certain way about things, then it’s extremely important that you let your roommate know. Don’t try to drop hints about it or counteract their actions with your own because nothing good will come out of it. If they’re playing their music too loud then say something, but do it nicely. There may be some things your roommate does that bother you, but there’s probably things you do that bothers them as well.

The lessons you learn from living with a roommate will only end up helping you in the long run. This way if you ever move in with someone in the future, whether that be with a friend, family or a significant other, you’ll already know what you do/don’t like and what it’s like to live with someone. You can always decide after your freshman year to live in a single, but you’ll at least be thankful for the experience.
