9. Recruitment Everyone wants to know the ins and outs of recruitment, but the moment you start mentioning pref and Bid Day they completely zone out. “Pref” (aka preference) is the time when the Potential New Members (PNMs) get to meet with their top choice sororities/fraternities (again) to get to know them a little better. Those lucky enough to go to a preference round for specific organizations means that the organization has taken an interest in them. From there the PNMs rank their top choices in order from most wanted to least which then leads to Bid Day. Bid Day is when PNMs receive a “bid” from a sorority/fraternity. This essentially means that the PNM liked an organization and wanted to join it and in return that organization wanted them to become a member. It’s like a match made in heaven.
