11 Spinoff TV Shows You Don’t Remember (Or Don’t Want To) (2)

8.) The Apprentice: Martha Stewart

Before he was an outspoken racist presidential candidate, Donald Trump was firing people on his hit reality television show, The Apprentice. After seeing the success of The Apprentice, NBC decided it was time for a spinoff and looked to Martha Stewart as the new star. Maybe the show failed because Martha Stewart was just to nice for the role (for example she replaced Trump’s catchphrase “your fired,” with a much nicer “you just don’t fit in”) or maybe the fact they had to film at her house, because she was still under house arrest at the time, interfered with the show; whatever the reason was, it was not picked up for a second season and has since been lost in time.

7.) Models Inc.

Beverly Hills 90210 begot Melrose Place which begot Models Inc…A spinoff of a spinoff. The show centered around a Los Angeles modeling agency that focused on Amanda Woodward’s mother Hillary Michaels and her modeling agency. Models Inc. just goes to show that you can only squeeze so much money out of a good thing; one spinoff is fine, but two might be pushing it.

6.) American Juniors

American Idol may very well be the most widely known western competition series of all time, but the same thing cannot be said about the spinoff series American Juniors. The setup is essentially the same as American Idol; It had 3 judges, contestants sang to move through to new rounds, and it even had Ryan Seacrest! After a competition show becomes successful it typically does one of three things; it moves to a new city and state, uses celebrity contestants, or makes an all child version of the show. Depending on your market, any of the three can garnish just as many viewers as the original series, but apparently American Idol viewers were not all to interested in seeing children relentlessly judged week after week.
