16 Things I Am Going To Do More In 2016

I am walking into 2016 optimistic. Come on, now. Stop saying that the New Year, New Me cliché only lasts a little while before we give up on our resolutions. Let’s just try to change the way that we roll and glide into 2016 with a positive stride. I think the reason why New Years resolutions rarely ever stick through is simply because they are too specific. So instead, I have taken the first week of January to compile a list of sixteen broad things that everybody can do better in 2016:

16. Smile and laugh

According to Psychology, people who smile more tend to be happier. And, often we forget that laughter is the best medicine. So, let the world see your shining smile and hear your charming laugh.

15. Relax

Sometimes, we get so tied up in life, we forget about our physical and mental well-being. I know we are busy people, but try to set some time aside every so often to read a book, take a hot bath, or even meditate. Get into your zen!

14. Enjoy

A lot of times, we also forget to enjoy what life has to offer. We only live once, and we must make the most of it.

13. Exercise

Exercise is healthy for the heart and the soul. Even if you’re not very fit, go on a walk or jog. Workout at your campus gym if you have one. Look up workouts online. A little exercise goes a long way.

12. Eat Healthier

Fill your body with good nutrients. I am not saying you cannot have that cookie, but enjoy those delicious sweets in moderation. Try to incorporate more whole foods, fruits, veggies, lean meats, and whole grains into your diet. Your body will thank you.

11. Quit the overthinking

Stop analyzing that text from your significant other. Don’t worry about the tone of your boss at work. A lot of the time, we are just thinking too hard when there is nothing even there. Overthinking can and will destroy you.

10. Let negativity in one ear and out the other

People in life are going to be negative. People in life are going to try to bring you down when you feel like you have finally made it to the top. That’s just how people are. It is easier said than done, but stop letting them get to you.

9. Treat others kindly and with respect

Play by the golden rule: Treat others how you would like to be treated.
