5 Drunk Texts You Should Probably Stop Sendng

You wake up Saturday morning, head pounding, still kind of zoned out, so you turn over and look at your phone only too see the most ridiculous text messages ever you sent last night. Not again! Drunk texting is one of the biggest struggles of a fun weekend out. It happens to all of us and it can be pretty painful (and funny) to re-read the next day while nursing a hangover. Here are the 5 most common stages of drunk texting we all can relate to. And remember, the best thing that you can do is laugh it off.

1. The texts that make absolutely no sense

Auto-correct couldn’t even help you. Your texts are just a jumble of letters and unrelated words. Good luck trying to figure out the meaning of “ghi kill gwert love u hsudgt” or any variation because it is next to impossible. The recipient of this kind of text either didn’t answer, laughed at you, or sent you an equally drunk response as if they knew what you meant. Basically all you can do is forget about it because you will probably never figure out what you were trying to type.

2. Any over emotional text to a family member or ex

These drunk texts are potentially the most horrifying to wake up to. Your mom thinks your on crack or your ex thinks you want to get back together; either way it is awful. These are the drunk texts that I like to delete right away and just pretend it didn’t happen. Trying to find any excuse besides “I was trashed” is difficult and blaming your drunken actions isn’t really much better. You better hope they don’t text you in the morning asking questions and wanting to talk.

3. Texts between you and your other drunk friends

The only thing better than drunk messages back and forth between you and your drunk friend, is a drunk group message between multiple drunk friends. Both of these you will get a good laugh out of in the morning. Trying to decode what everyone was saying will leave you and your friends doubled over laughing. Re-living all the things that happened to you can be good and bad, but still it is fun to see what you were drunkenly freaking out about to your besties.

4. Horrible picture messages you thought looked good last night

“Lets take a picture!” Seems like a good idea last night at the bar, you thought you and your friends looked awesome, but now you are questioning your sanity. These pictures are generally blurry, too dark, and your are combining a weird pose with a fucked up face. Far from attractive, but still definitely something to laugh at. You just better check to see how many people you sent that to and what social media you posted it on.

5. Texts to a hook up or someone you met on your night out

These texts drunk texts are usually pretty embarrassing. You might be telling a hottie you met at a party all the things you want to do to them later, or you might be having a full conversation with an unsaved number that you so don’t recognize in the morning. If you’re still interested in the person or enjoyed a fun night with them the best thing to do is send a flirty but apologetic text in the morning, like “wow I was pretty gone last night but I sure had fun”. Or if you aren’t interested just delete the texts and pray you don’t see them walking to class on Monday.
