Various TAs and Our Reasons For Hating Them

-The “Against the Man” TA

This one is usually very angry at the “traditional” education system, which they will incorporate in their teachings MULTIPLE times. They will never let you forget that society and this university only thinks of you as a number not as a person. You don’t matter, only the administration looking good does, they will say. Watch out, cause unless you keep your opinion to yourself, they will RANT for the whole class about their issues with normality.

-The Fast-Talking With an Impossible Accent TA
Usually Indian or Asian but possibly another ethnicity, these are the ones you will have to ask “what?” multiple times and then end up giving up completely anyway. They get angry if you don’t understand and get quite an attitude with you. Almost positive I’ve heard one or two mutter “stupid Americans” under their breath.

-The Clueless TA
This TA generally shouldn’t be teaching. Maybe it’s their first class ever or they’re just absentminded in general, but they usually forget where your graded work is, where they were in the lecture, and what topic or when the next quiz is. They rarely respond to your emails, and when they do, they never actually answer your question.

-The “I Hate My Job” TA
Very similar to the clueless TA except they know they’re doing it. They cancel class a lot, but when they do have class, you learn nothing. You never feel prepared for the tests because they never feel like preparing you. They show up to class late and unhappy every time and you never feel like asking them questions is a good idea. Watch out, they hate you before you’ve even walked in.

-The Unnecessarily Strict TA
This is the no cellphones, no food, no drinks, no bookbags on tables, no talking, basically no breathing kind of person. They want all eyes on themselves and then their droning usually puts you to sleep. BUT of course there’s no sleeping. It’s hard to stay out of trouble with this TA because they take their job WAY too seriously.

-The Hot TA
Some will question why I added this, because who could hate a hot TA? My reasoning is because they become quite the distraction. You spend more time Tweeting, YikYaking, and Snapchatting about them than you do paying attention. You don’t mind coming in for extra help, but even then you just stare and daydream about them when they’re not behind a desk
