The controversial movie starring Seth Rogan and James Franco was pulled from the big screens which was supposed to be released on Christmas Day.
The subject matter of the movie (being assigned to assassinate Kim Jong-un) brought a cyber attack from North Korea and Sony was left with no choice. After the decision to release the film simultaneously on-demand and theatrically, major exhibitors were not happy and people who want to see the comedy have to go elsewhere. Even under these circumstances, the movie has made over $15 Million online, making it Sony’s top online film ever.
